[43067] "Bangor Daily News Bangor, Maine]," 22 January 1923, p. 3: "Penobscot, Jan. 21 - The town was saddened by the death, Wednesday January 10, of its most prominent citizen and last Civil War soldier, Cyrus K. Bridges. Bridges, a man of keen intelligences, wonderful personality and strong moral powers, was born here March 9, 1834. He spent his early manhood here learning carpenter's trade. He did riot turn a deaf ear his country's call as is shown by his brilliant war record. He enlisted in August 1862, with his brother, and on August 21 he was mustered into the land forces of the North, at Bangor, Captain Bartlett. His sterling worth as a soldier was shown early, for he was made a third sargent before he left Bangor. This was soon followed by a promotion to orderly sargent, thence to second leiutenant. The esteem and respect in which he was held by his company is best shown by their presentation to him of a sash, belt and sword, when, having been commissioned a Frst Lieutenant, he was transferred to his new command. As a leader, he was supreme. He was an officer whose every thought was for the welfare of his men. He was not one who urged his men on from behind the lines, but it was Lieutenant Bridges who set the example for his men to follow. His activities in the war were many. His first engagement was at Spotsylvania, in which battle four hundred men were killed and wounded. From Spotsylvania his forces fought General Lee all the way to Petersburg where Lieutenant Bridges was wounded, July 16, 1864 he was then taken to Seminary Hospital, Georgetown, and then ordered home. Because of his wounds and an aggravated malady he was told to stay home, consequently he resigned his commission September 10, 1864. After a brief stay at home during which he recovered from his wounds, he went to work in the Kittery navy yard. It was while working here that he was taken into the Masonic society, in which he had always been a living example of its principles. He moved to Portland July 8, 1867. his first work was on the custom house and post office. He was foreman there for four years and a month. In the spring of 1873 he was appointed deputy marshal by Mayor George P. Wescott. formerly of Bluehill. He served three years in that cspaclty and was appointed marshal in 1876 by Mayor Moses M. Butler. As marshal he was a marked success, gunmen and thugs alike respecting his prowess. He served seven years as police head, a longer term than any other man up to that ttme. This statement itself speaks volumes for the ability of one who had already made an enviable record. Resigning his position in 1883, he returned to his native town where he built many houses and some churches, in this and the surrounding towns. His townsmen were not content to allow him to remain idle, and elected him to manage their affairs as first selectman. He served seven years and only his refusal to accept office prevented a longer term. As a young man be early expressed his belief in God's will by joining the church. He ever after lived the life he had chosen and had always been an active church worker. He was Penobscot's oldest citizen and holder of the Boston Post Cane. He is survived by his wife, who in his declining years in which his failing health has made him a constant care, has been constantly at his call. His every wish was anticipated by this faithful, loving companion who had spent nearly 66 years as his helpmate. Also a son. M. F. Bridges, who untiringly gave his aid toward his comfort, mourns the loss of a loving father, together with relatives and a host of friends. One of the season's worst storms prevented the flowers and attendance from filling the house. His interment was in the family lot off the old homestead, near his birthplace. Passed on to a far better world has the spirit of this great and good man whose memory will be perpetuated in his deeds of valor, kindliness and whole hearted manhood in the records of Penobscot's history." Cyrus r. Portland, Cumberland Co., ME in 1880 when he was city marshal there. See Find A Grave Memorial 76157379 which includes a photo of Lt. Cyrus K. Bridges.

[3331] Robert (II) "Crusader" is a brother of Saire de Quency, Magna Charta Surety, per "Pedigrees of Some of the Emperor Charlemagne's Descendants," Aileen Lewers Langston & J. Orton Buck, Jr., p. 49. However, "Ancestral Roots of Certain American Colonists..." 7th Edition (Baltimore, 1992), line 54-28, gives this Robert de Quincy as SON of Saier de Quincy and Margaret de Beaumont - this is most likely - see the 2003 corrections to CP at http://www.medievalgenealogy.org.uk/cp/winchester.shtml

Find A Grave memorial 62269207 offers:
David was the son of Adam Deshler, one of the first settlers. He grew up in Whitehall Township, in his father's stone house. In 1767 he bought land in Salisbury Township from James Allen, on which he erected a grist mill and a sawmill. This was an early part of the present-day city of Allentown, where David Deshler built the first house. He lived in a large stone house, now called Fort Deshler or Deshler's Blockhouse. Like Fort Ralston's stone blockhouse in E. Allen Twsp, it is no longer standing). He was the Lt. Col. of PA. Militia during the Revolutionary War and a patriot of Egypt, PA.
"Colonel David Deshler was beyond doubt the most substantial resident of Northampton town [now Allentown] in his time, and his influence helped very materially in the successful culmination of the War for Independence."*
(1776) David attended the proceedings of the Provincial Conference in Philadelphia on June 1776 where he was made Deputy of the election for the second division of the county held at Allentown.
(1777) He was made Sub Lt.
(1778) David was made the Commissary of Supplies of Northampton County.
(1780) Congress was unable to pay for anything, David Deshler and his colleague and neighbor, Captain John Arndt, advanced their own money to pay for Northampton County's quota of army supplies.
(1787) David was a member of the 1787 Pennsylvania convention that ratified the United States Constitution.

[2560] http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/RUSSIA,%20Rurik.htm reports: "Anastasia Iaroslavna ([1023]-[1074/1096], bur Admont Abbey). Baumgarten names the second wife of King András and gives her origin but only cites one secondary source in support. After her husband's death in 1060, she and her sons took refuge at the court of Heinrich IV King of Germany but, leaving her elder son there, she and her younger son went to Austria. The Annals of Lambert record that 'regina Ungariorum, mater Salomonis regis' presented the sword of 'rex Hunnorum Attila' to 'duci Baioriorum Ottoni' after her son was restored as king of Hungary. She became a nun at Admont in 1074 as Agmunda. m ([1039]) as his second wife, ANDRÁS of Hungary, son of Vászoly [Vazúl] Prince of Hungary Duke between March and Gran & --- of the Bulgarians ([1014]-Zirc autumn 1060, bur Tihany, Abbey of St Anian). He and his brothers fled Hungary following the disgrace of their father, settling first in Bohemia, but András was in Kiev from [1037]. After the popular uprising which deposed King Peter in 1046, he was invited to return from exile and succeeded in 1047 as András I 'the Catholic' King of Hungary."
