[53436] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]." 12 April 2023: "Sedgwick - Debra L. Smith, 76, of Sedgwick, died at home surrounded by her family April 9, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 29, 1946, in Castine, to Orville and Virgie Sanborn. She is survived by her husband, Victor, her two children, Wendy (husband, Delbert) and Jill (partner Julie), two grandchildren, Jonathan and Joshua, and sisters, Jackie (husband, Jim) and Marnie (husband, Roger). She graduated from Plus Grays School of Business in Portland, Maine, and worked for many years for Duffy & Duffy boatyard in Brooklin and later for Coastside Bio Resources and Billings Diesel and Marine in Stonington. She took pride in her organizational skills and managing a busy office. Shortly before retiring, she and Victor took up ballroom and line dancing with their friends, which she loved. Her favorite pleasure in life was spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens in the summer. She was very proud of growing and processing her own fruits and vegetables to eat throughout the winter. She enjoyed crocheting and also became an accomplished rug hooker later in her retirement years, often joining a local rug hooking group on a weekly basis. She loved her cat Bailey and dog Luca immensely and they provided her with a great deal of comfort in the last months of her life."
