[53511] "Bangor Daily News Bangor, Maine]," 25 November 1903, p. 9: "On Sunday Mr. Eugene Coffin, a well known and highly respected citizen, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Pickering of Lee, after a long and painful illness. He leaves a wife three daughters, one son, five brothers and five ssters to mourn his death. Mr. Coffin was a very active man and for many years was one of northern Maine's leading lumber operators and possessed many close friends, both socially and in a business way, being a man of strict business integrity. A few year ago when his health began to give way he disposed of his lumbering business and purchased a store and home in Braggville on the B. A. R. and conducted the same until this spring when the forest fire swept Braggville off the face of the map, leaving him and his family homeless. Mr. Coffin did not build again owing to his health, but came to live with his daughter in Lee, where everything was done to make his last days as comfortable as possible. The funeral was held at Lee Tuesday afternoon, after which the remains were interred in the family lot in that place."
