[44901] "The Perry County Democrat, 28 August 1935," p. 3: "James R. Wilson, one of Perry county's most prominent citizens, died at his home in Landisburg early Tuursday morning, August 22, after having been in declining health for several months, death resulting from hardening of the arteries. The announcement of his death was received with sincere sorrow by all who knew him. James Ramsay Wilson was a son of John A. and Ellen (Black) Wilson and was born in Landisburg July 2, 1866. He attended the public schools of Landisburg and when a young man learned the art of printing in the old Perry Freeman office, in Bloomfield, but never followed that profession. Returning to Landisburg after his apprenticeship, he engaged in the live stock business, in which he was successful. He was one of the promoters of the Bank of Landisburg and from 1905 until July of last year was its capable cashier, when on the death of the president of the bank, Joseph C. Waggoner, he was elected president. It was largely through his able management that the bank, with branch at Blain, is today one of the leading financial institutions of the county. He held many borough offices, being a school director of Lan disburg for many years. Mr. Wilson was a churchman of the old school, a member and trustee of the Bloomfield Presbyterian church, a most regular attendant of divine services, and one of the most liberal contributors to the church, not only to his own church but to other churches and to every religious organization that applied to him for financial assistance. He was also a member of Mt. Dempsey lodge, I. O. O. F., of Landisburg, and treasurer of the lodge for some years. In political faith Mr. Wilson was a staunch Democrat, one of the influential men of his party, and his advice and council in political affairs will be greatly missed. He was chairman of the Democratic County Committee of Perry county for several terms and in the Presidential campaign of 1916 held down the Republican majority in the county to 227 for Hughes and 357 for Focht. Mr. Wilson and Miss May Loy, daughter of Capt. Andrew Loy and Ann Eliza Linn Loy, of near Center Church, were married December 26, 1888, at the bride's home, the Rev. William Burchfield officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. James Ramsay, of New York, after whom Mr. Wilson was named. Mrs. Wilson and one son, James, and one granddaughter, Miss Mary Wilson, of Pittsburgh, survive. A daughter, Mary Elizabeth, died in infancy. Three brothers and one sister of Mr. Wilson died when young children."
