She was born in Caribou, Maine, Jan. 18, 1913, the daughter of Ludlow and Lucy (Small) Denton. Margaret received a bachelor's degree in Latin from the University of Maine in 1933, a master's degree in Communications from Southern Connecticut State College in 1958 and a master's degree in Arts and Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University in 1960. She married Elwood Newell Eaton of Deer Isle, Maine in 1936 and they lived on Long Island, N.Y. through World War II before moving back to Deer Isle in 1946. She taught at McKinley High School in Deer Isle until 1957 when they moved to Wallingford. There Margaret taught at the junior high and high school levels and before retiring served as school librarian in Berlin. After they retired in the mid-1970s, Margaret and Elwood traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motorhome and had a winter home in North Fort Myers, Fla., for 20 years. They moved to Beacon Hill in Lombard, Ill., in 1999. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lona D. Ingraham; and her brother-in law, Albert A. Ingraham."

Alma J. (Piper) Martin, 80, of York, formerly of Chambersburg, died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 1:50 p.m. at Falling Springs Nursing Home, Chambersburg. She was the wife of Raymond L. Martin who died December 12, 1998.
Funeral service will be Monday, February 12 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 241 E. King St., York. Viewings will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Workinger-Semmel F.H. and Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St. and 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at the church. Burial will follow the service in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Martin was born October 10, 1926 in Chambersburg. She was the daughter of the late Truman W. and D. Irene (Mayhugh) Piper.
Mrs. Martin was a sales clerk at the Rutter's Store on Loucks & Sherman Streets, York, for 14 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; White Rose Square Dancers; and formerly an avid bowler.
Mrs. Martin is survived by a daughter, L. Kay Estep of Chambersburg; three sons, Gary L. Martin of Glen Rock, Steven L. Martin of York New Salem and Ronald L. Martin of Manchester; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Van Horn and Nancy Rife, both of Chambersburg; three brothers, William Piper of Mercersburg, Carl Piper and Earl Piper, both of Greencastle. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas L. Martin and a brother, Donald Piper.

Magdalena, daughter of Isaac Van Sintern and Neeltje Claasen, and great-great-grand-daughter of Jan de Voss, Burgomaster in Flanders, in 1550. Martin Kolb moved to Skippack in 1709, and was ordained to the ministry in the Mennonite Church and served at Germantown, and at Skippack as soon as an organization was established there. His signature also appears on the deed of the Mennonite Church at Germantown as a witness. He was one of the first trustees, with others, who held the property of the Mennonite Church at the Skippack in trust for many years. He died in 1 76 1. Their children were Magdalena, Neltgen, Hannah, Sarah, Dielman, Isaac, Maria."
