[43316] This person is from the unverified http://www.noyesgenealogy.net which reports "Daniel Mitchell lived on the top of Mitchell's Hill, in South Freeport, in a large, two-story house, 'the lower part a garrison.' It had a hall in the middle of the first floor, with a square room on each side, at the front; in the rear were other rooms, a shed, and a capacious barn. The house was torn down more than seventy years ago, but the old well and sweep remained for some time afterward; a few of the ancient trees are still standing. Mrs. Rebecca (Pratt) Pierce, who well remembered Daniel Mitchell, described him as a 'large, noble looking man.'" He served as a soldier in the War for Independence.
