[46965] Jemima is daughter of Joseph Snyder Elliott (1798-1875) & Jane Jemima Horton (1802-1896). "Marshall County News [Marysville, Kansas], 12 July 1907," p. 1"Mrs. Jemima McMahon died at the home of her son, Thomas, in this city Wednesday, July 10th, at 4:00 o'clock a. m. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock by the members of the First Church of Christ Scientists. The deceased was 70 years, 3 months and 4 days old. She was born in Bradford county Pennsylvania, April 6, 1837, and was married in that county December 23, 1856 to Thomas McMahon. They came to Marshall county in 1871 and settled on a farm in Franklin township where they continued ta live until Mr. McMahon's death ten years ago. After her husband's death she continued to conduct the farm for three years, then gave up its management to her sons and she has lived most of the time since with her daughter, Maude Hoffman, at Jefferson, Oklahoma. Two months ago she came from Oklahoma to Marysville to make her home with her son, Thomas, thinking the change of climate would prove beneficial, as she had been suffering for sometime with rheumatism and kidney trouble. For a time it looked as though the change would help her but a week ago she had a relapse, which, owing to her age and weakened physical condition she was unable to overcome, and death resulted. She leaves three sons, J. E and Thomas of Marysville and John of Arkansas City, and one daughter, Maude, (Mrs. Geo. Hoffman) of Jefferson, Oklahoma. Three children have died, Mattie and George and an infant daughter."
