Kenny was born in Lincoln, Maine, to Kenneth Hanscom Sr. and Norma (Stevenson) Hanscom on May 24, 1945. He was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy class of 1963. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Kenny was a member of Horeb Lodge #93, and was a member of the Anah Shrine and the Anah 4x4 unit. He was employed by Lincoln Pulp and Paper for 40 years, then he became a loving and dedicated school bus driver for more than 20 years at MSAD 30 in Lee, Maine. Kenny was predeceased by his parents, an infant son, and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Dill) Hanscom, their two children, Regina and husband, Ted Osnoe, and Kenneth 'Bub' Hanscom III and wife, Angie; three grandchildren, Jaimee (Batchelder) Marquis and husband, Shane, Jordan Hanscom and Cody Hanscom; and three great-grandchildren, Jaxsyn Malloch, and Sarah and Spencer Marquis."

Learned carpenter trade and moved to North Carolina in 1836 to work in railroad construction, returned to Shimersville on the Saucon Creek, opposite Freemansburg, which had been built by Nathan Irish in 1735. The mill had been purchased in 1836 by Benjamin Riegel his wife's father." "The Allentown Democrat [Allentown, PA], 25 February 1891," p. 2: "John Knecht died at his home in Shimersville, Lower Saucon township, on Sunday morning a week, after an illness of about 14 days. On the 2nd of February Mr. Knecht and his wife celebrated their golden wedding, when he was in his usual good health and spirits. He soon after took a cold which developed into gastric fever. The deceased was one of the incorporators of the Bethlehem iron company, and from 1863 to 1865 was a director of the Lehigh Valley railroad company. He accumulated a large fortune, and owned a great deal of valuable real estate. He is survived by his wife and four children - Howard Knecht, Mrs. Dr. J. J. Detwiller, of Easton, Mrs. Dr. E. J. Freeman, of Freemansburg, and Miss Annie Knecht."
