He was of Haxton, Parish of Fydleton, when he made his will 6 Oct 1574 which mentions wife Edith and daughter Alice. Edith, his widow, made her will 9 Aug 1576 and also mentions daughter Alice. This Alice is the only one found by Charles Edward Banks in his search of Wiltshire wills; and she named her third son Edward, presumably after her father.

She married (1) William de Mortimer, (2) John de Ferrers, and (3) John de Bures, who died at Bodington, December 22, 1350. The origin of this family was Bures near Bayeux, who owned an important castle there. Michel de Bures was, according to the Egerton manuscripts in the British Museum, the first of the name who came to England. He accompanied Duke William to the battle of Senlac, by whom he was given two manors in Somersetshire, one in Hertfordshire, mentioned in the Domesday survey. The two manors in Somersetshire are known as East Bower and West Bower, Bridgewater. Walter, his son, held a small manor near Calne in Wiltshire, to which he gave the name of Bures. Pierre de Bures was Viscount of Dieppe and Arques during the war of 1173-1174. He was born June 11, 1925, on Verona Island, the son of Lloyd and Julia (Delano) Leach. He graduated from Bucksport High School, Class of 1943, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II. Mr. Leach retired from Champion International Paper Co., Bucksport, in 1983, after 36 years of service. He was a member of the U.P.I. U. Local No. 261 Union, and the Felicity Lodge No. 1 9 AF & AM of Bucksport. Lloyd in his early years was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed gardening, his wood lot, claming, and hunting with his boys, shopping with his wife and beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lois (Gross) Leach of Verona Island; two sons, Larry Leach and Jill Damon of Skowhegan, Jerry Leach and his wife, Allison of Bucksport; nine grandchildren, Jacob Leach, Jonathan Leach, Lindsey Leach, Dustin Leach, Kasie Leach, Jessica VanScoy, Nicolas Leach, Katie VanScoy, Kelley Michael Leach; three greatgrandchildren, Samantha, Jacob, and Kyle, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and one sister, Lenora L. Bennett."

When he registered for the World War II draft he was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad at Freeport. In the 1923 city director of Freeport he is listed as a fireman. "Freeport Journal-Standard [Freeport, Illinois], 26 August 1947," p. 12: "L. L. McHoes, 58, of 531 East Iroquols street, died suddenly early this morning, apparently from heart disease, at LaSalle, Ill., in the cab of an Illinois Central locomotive which he was firing. The train was going south, bound for Clinton, Ill. An inquest will be held at LaSalle. He was born June 7, 1891, at Davis, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. George McHoes, both of whom died previously. Mr. McHoes is survived by a son, William, and a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Hoelscher, both of Freeport, and three grandchildren."
