Elizabeth was assassinated in Geneva by an Italian anarchist, Luigi Lucheni, who stabbed her with a shoemaker's file (some sources mentions it was a knife). Luigi was given a life sentence for the murder and committed suicide in his prison cell in 1910.

He was born in Blue Hill June 19, 1906, the son of James and Lora (Gray) Gray. Warren was a farmer growing vegetables and blueberries as well as being a mail carrier. He enjoyed baseball and played for the Blue Hill Badgers for many years. He was a veteran member for 72 years of IOOF No. 79 and was affiliated with the Blue Hill Fair for 70 years. Warren is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mildred (Leighton) Gray; three sons and daughlers-in-law, Robert W. and Katherine E. Gray, Donald E. and Patricia C. Gray, Duane B. and Susan B. Gray, all of Blue Hill; grandchildren, William Gray of Blue Hill, Tom Gray and Sharon of Brewer, John Gray and Nicole of Sedgwick, Jim Gray of Raymond, Lorry Gray and Carol of Bucksport, Danny Gray and Lindley, Greg Gray, Melanie Gray, Adam Gray, Annemarie Napolitano, and Andrew Forrester-Gray all of Blue Hill; two greatgrandchildren, Tiffany Gray and Joshua Gray."
