[51263] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 19 August 2014": "Penobscot - Mary Inez (Black) Snow passed away Aug. 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. We lost our Mother, Grammie, GG and Mammie. She was born Oct. 27, 1936, at Castine Community Hospital to Lewis and Iva (Snow) Black. Mary loved the chaos of her family, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was predeceased by her parents; the love of her life, Albert E.'Jr.' Snow; and a very special daughter, Barbara. She was the youngest of nine children, Gertrude, Peggy, Madlyn, Robert, Archie, Ernest, Richard and William, all passed before her. She is survived by her six wonderful children, Jack (Liz) Snow, Debra (Joe Peak) Snow, Peggie Snow, Shari (Anthony) Gray, Brian (Christie) Snow and David Snow; grandchildren, Christy (Dana) Black, Rebecca (Richard) Lebel, Terri (Eric Kettell) Snow, Jeremiah (Jaime) Emerton, Krisy (Larry Wood) Emerton, Tiffany (Byron Hutchinson) Gray and Devon (Lisa) Granger, Allyson and Austin Snow; as well as a very special grandson, Brandon, who always took wonderful care of our Grammie. She promised Grampa she would take care of him and they took care of each other to the best of their ability; great-grandchildren, Sydnie Howard, Tyler and Jordin Eaton, Gabby McLaughlin, Marshall and Breton Lebel, Oceania and Madelyn Black, Jasmine and Madeline Emerton; and a very special Pip (Maribel), who will be named after our beloved GG. Mary always felt that her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed all her nieces and nephews and delighted in family gatherings - the noisier the better. Mary was an avid reader, especially enjoying Nicholas Sparks, as well as a writer and an artist, writing poems for her kids and grandchildren and delighting in retelling them whenever asked. Mary enjoyed playing any type of game but especially enjoyed a Skip Bo game. Many a night was spent around the kitchen table playing games, enjoying popcorn and laughing. The family wishes to give a special thank you to David Snow, who spent all of his hours making Marys wishes come true. He always made sure supper was ready, the holiday decorations were up when Mary could not, and the many rides to Guilford, which she loved. Everything he did was to make her happy and he did that."

[29179] Christian Staub reports: "Emigrated from the Palatinate in Germany to America , probably Sept 23, 1766, on the ship Chance, Charles Smith, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. He settled in Chester County. There he married Catherian (Kulp, Kolb, or Cuthbertson??) from a family noted as a tall, hardy race of people. Subsequently he moved with his family to York County, and then to Spring Township in Perry County, and purchased the Gamber farm near St. Peters Church, part of which farm was later owned by Frederick Souder. There he spent the rest of his days. His body and that of his wife rest in the cemetery of St. Peters Church of which they both were members."
