He was born in Bangor, ME, the son of M. Wanda (Kinney) and Ora J. Nickerson Jr. Nick graduated from Old Town High School, class of 1973. He was known by many as he has held various jobs throughout the years - from construction, the fire service, maintenance, retail sales and service, and others. He is survived by three daughters, Tonya Delaney and her husband, Wesley, Debra Carey and her husband, Jason, of Milford, and Melody Nickerson of Old Town; one son, James Nickerson and his wife, Sarah, of Eddington; one brother, Frederick Nickerson and his wife, Denise, of Stillwater; one aunt, Una Rae Isbister and her husband, Harry, of Oakland; one uncle, Gregory Kinney and his wife, Yolanda, of Carolton, TX; eight grandchildren; three nephews; many cousins; and a special friend, Anita Haskell of Milford. He was predeceased by his parents, and several aunts and uncles."

Virgil's 1942 draft registration states he r. in Orrville, Wayne Co., OH, is a brick layer and was born in Clark Twp., Coshocton Co., Ohio. "News-Journal [Mansfield, Ohio], 14 November 1983," p. 7: "Bellville - Virgil H. Stein, 92, of 31 Fitting Ave. died Saturday in Mansfield General Hospital. He had been a former resident of Orrville, Ohio, and had been living with a nephew, Richard Stein in Bellville, for the past six and a half years. Mr. Stein had been employed as a bricklayer and a barber and also as a part-time policeman with the Orrville Police Department. He was a member of the Marshallville United Methodist Church, a mason with the Elliott Lodge of Canal Fulton, the Orrville VFW and the Wayne County FOP Lodge 94. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville. Burial will be in West Richfield Cemetery, Richfield, Ohio."
