[868] [John r. Newington, NH] The Fabyan name originated in the SW part of France. About 500 years ago they went to Abington, Berkshire, England as farmers. John (1681-1756) was a tailor and draper, and for years served as a justice of the peace in NH. NEHG 51:45 lists John Fabyan as an inhabitant of Portsmouth, NH in 1711. "Ensign John Fabyan" subscribed 15 shillings toward the employment of a pastor at Newington, NH 21 Jan 1713 (- NEHGR 58:249); in August 1713 he ws a member of the committee to select a pastor for the parish (- NEHGR 58:250-251). He was a church deacon and a Representative in 1745. NEHGR 22:300 reports that Deacon John Fabyan was elected an Elder of the church at Newington, NH 19 Jan 1724. [4938] Guy received grants in Scotland for service at Falkirk. In 1301 he was a signer of the letter to the pope denying papal right to interfere in Scottish affairs. He was a lord ordainer in 1310.
