He was born January 8, 1947, to Adeline and Alton Smith. Norman graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1964, and married the love of his life, Patricia, in 1965. He worked at Pratt & Whitney and New England Aircraft in Connecticut before returning to Maine to work at St. Regis/Champion paper mill in Bucksport for 28 years. He and Patricia owned and operated the Bucksport Area Bowling Center for 25 years. Norman was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Patricia; and siblings; Charlotte, Rodney, Alice, and Jean. He is survived by his son, Victor (Tracy) Smith; grandchildren, Reagan (Alan) Gillis and Jared Smith (Brooke); and great-grandson, Quinn Gillis; his son, Michael (Gladys) Smith; grandchildren, Donald (Emelyn) Smith, Michael Smith, Zachary Welch (Hailee), Seth Welch, Nichole (Jonathon) Allen, Tony Hammett (Ashley), Stephen Hammett (Sonja), and Morgan Hammett; and great-grandchildren, Mary Smith, Willow Welch, Cole Dewey, Brock Hammett, Harper Hammett, Ellie Hammett, Cara Leach, and Kendra Leach; and his daughter, Kelli (Aaron) Brown; and grandchildren Donald, Sammy-Marissa, and Trenton Brown. He is also survived by his siblings, James (Glenna) Ford, Annie Bartley, Victor Smith, and Foster (Loretta) Smith. Norman was known as Bumpy Norm to the Cousins/Carroll family and PaPa Norm to Colton, Wade, and Noah, children of Reilly and Coty Mayhew."
