[11543] Edmund descends from Robert, younger brother of Ralph de Toeni, who at The Conquest received a great fief extending into seven counties and took the title Robert de Stafford from his castle's location. Robert's son ended the male line, and the fief passed through his sister, married to his tenant knight Hervey Bagot.
