A daughter of Charles and Margaret Harold Bishop, she was born June 16, 1902, in Canoe Township. Mrs. Shields was a member of the Salvation Army in New Castle and the Home League of the Salvation Army. Surviving are six daughters: Mrs. Mary Burkhouse of Edinburg RD 1, Mrs. Ruth Peace of Hillsville, Mrs. Betty Claypoole of Florida City, Fla., Mrs. Shirley Rossi of Hillsville RD 1, Mrs. Irene Jones of New Castle, and Mrs. Winnie Eardley of Ft. Worth, Texas. Four sons: George of Mira Louma, Calif., Wilbur of Hillsville, Donald E. Shields of Meriden, Conn., and Ernest of New Castle; two sisters, Mrs. Alberta Airgood of West Middlesex and Mrs. Helen Kennemuth of Duke Center; two brothers, Harry and Calvin Bishop both of Punxsutawney RD 1; 35 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchidren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Shields, in 1965; three daughters: Esther Shields, Anna Clark, and Dorothy Mast; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Sutter; and three brothers: Martin, Edward, and Howard Bishob. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today (Monday) In the Pifer Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. where services will be held at l p.m. Tuesday. Lt. Dennis Camuti will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Cemetery, Canoe Township." Mabel is daughter of Charles M. H. Bishop (1875-1948) & Margaret E Harrold (1882-1932).
