He was born on April 14, 1972, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the delight of his mother, Ms. Jayne Locke McLaughlin, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mona Morgrage Tucker. His father, George Earle McLaughlin, was serving in the Army, assigned to Korea, and was proud of his birth. Adam went to many elementary/junior high schools and was active in the Boy Scouts of America in the United States and Germany. Jayne arrived back in Augusta with both sons in 1987 and Adam became the fourth generation of his family to graduate from Cony High School in 1991. His Army career was cut short by an accident in jump school that became a disability. After his honorable medical discharge, he attained an associate degree in computer sciences from the University of Maine. Adam enjoyed building computers for family and friends/clients to their specifications and individual needs. Adam's heart and thoughts were kind to others and he had a knack for telling great stories or tales of his two kitties, with which he would entertain others at wonderful suppers or barbecues. Adam is with his Lord and they are watching over all of us with love. He is tearfully and greatly missed by his brother and best friend, Eric Jack Ryan McLaughlin; grandfather Richard D. Locke; mother Ms. Jayne Locke McLaughlin; great uncle Robert H. Locke and great aunt Janice; Uncle Bruce Groves and Aunt Debby, and Uncle Edward Bohman and Aunt Jill; special friend Jesse H. Babcock III and wife Laurie and daughter Ainsleigh; and many cousins. A celebration of his life will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 209 Eastern Ave., Augusta. Refreshments will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bread of Life Ministries Shelter; Kennebec Valley Humane Society; allpaws.com; or to the family to help defray expenses.
