Dorr, born October 22, 1918, in Orland Village, Maine, to Richard Bowden and Nellie Drummand Bowden, passed away March 7, 2021, in Augusta. Predeceased by her parents and husband, Maxwell Dorr; sister, Edna Simpson; brother, Merle Bowden; son, Roger M. Dorr; grandson, Randy Dorr; and son-in-law, Kenneth Preble. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and George Hamilton, and daughter, Sandra Preble. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Jean attended Eastern Maine Conference Seminary in Bucksport. She got her GED and driver's license in her early 40's. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bangor and retired after 15 years. Jean was an avid reader who enjoyed a good game of Scrabble and completing daily crossword puzzles until her death. At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private committal service will be held at Hampden's Locus Grove Cemetery at a later date."

He then married Margaret Farrow and they had two children together. He died on January 23, 1838, in Upper Augusta, Pennsylvania, having lived a long life of 78 years. . . . Magdalena Spindler married Philip Stroh on April 29, 1792, in New Holland, Pennsylvania. They had six children in 27 years. She died in 1820." Ancestry.com offers: "Stroh Name Meaning - German: from Middle High German stro 'straw', hence a metonymic occupational name for a dealer in straw, or a nickname for an exceptionally thin man or someone with straw-colored hair."
