He was a veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army .He worked for many years as a plant manager in sardine factories, and then later for Cherryfield Foods until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, and the American Legion Post No. 9 in Machias. His hobbies included working on model trains in his train room, wood working, working in his yard during the summer, target practicing with his son Mark, and reading about history. He especially loved spending time with his family.
