Find A Grave memorial 46808346 offers: "Joseph Baldwin was a prominent 18th century educator and identified by some as the 'father of the normal school system'. In Kirksville, Missouri, Baldwin created the North Missouri Normal School and Commercial College in 1867. In 1870, the Missouri Legislature sought to create a state normal school system and Baldwin offered his school. Baldwin was named President of what is now known as Truman University. Baldwin was the third president of Sam Houston Normal Institute (now State University) (1881-1891). He resigned from SHNI to accept the newly-created Chair of Pedagogy at the University of Texas, a position he held until his retirement in 1897. He remained in Austin until his death."

Miller, 89, widow of the late Jacob Miller, died Tuesday morning at the home of her son, Grover C. Miller, 46 Vine st., Newville after an illness of several months. Mrs. Miller, one of Newville's oldest residents, was the last of her family. Her survivors include three sons, Charles Salisbury of Streator, Ill., and Lemuel Salisbury of Newville, in addition to Mr. Miller. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Kendel (sic), Mrs. Miller was born Nov. 29, 1861. She was a member of the Doubling Gap Church of God."

[29056] An unverified typescript of unknown origin owned by William Scruggs, Jr. in 2009 provides: "William Scroggs youngest son of Francis and Jeane of Albury, settled in London. He married Mary Wright in 1595 and was the father by her of Janes, William and Margaret. Of these, William resided in Essex County and left issue there by his wife of a son - Sir William Scroggs, who married Anne, daughter of Edward Fettiplace of Berkshire. Sir William was the father of another Sir William as well as of two daughters, Anne and Elizabeth. The son owned land is Essex, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire and was knighted in 1581. His first wife, Mary, daughter of Sir John Churchill, died only a year after her marriage, without issue. His second wife was Anne, daughter of Matthew Bluck in 1685. The children of the second marriage were William, Charles, Thomas, Anne and Elizabeth."
