[52235] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 19 November 2022": "Winter Haven, FL - Mary 'Eileen' Perkins, 91, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, passed away on October 5, 2022. Eileen was born in May 20, 1931, to Joseph 'Leo' Lapointe and Leona Lapointe in Sea Side, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the second child of four children. The family moved to Maine in 1936. Eileen was predeceased by her beloved family members; her mother and father, her husband Derward W. Perkins; her sisters, Evangeline Burnett and Jeanne Smith; her brother, Larry Lapointe; her sons, Wayne A. Perkins and James 'Jimmy' Perkins. She is survived by her children, Randall and Diane Perkins of Bangor, Maine, Gary Perkins and Diana de los Santos of San Antonio, Texas, and Lee and Sheila Anderson of Winter Haven, FL; her grandchildren, Frank and Adrienne Rauccio, Michelle Eileen Frye, Tyler Barringer and Samantha Perkins, and Gregoy Perkins; and her great-grandchildren, James and Breana Ingram, Trey Cooper, Isabella Frye, Silas Perkins, Blake Barringer, Jackson Barringer, Tyler Hoagland, Brenley Hoagland, Roman Rauccio; and many nieces and nephews. Everyone was special to Eileen. Family was everything to her. She married her husband Derward in Guilford, Maine in 1947 and they had five children together before he passed in 1970. Derward was a Senior Master Sargent in the U.S. Air Force. Eileen was a great military wife, constantly moving across the United States and Canada and bravely holding down the home front while Derward was deployed overseas to Japan for a year and then again to Thule, Greenland. Their final move together in 1964 was to Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, where he retired from the Air Force. After her husband's sudden death Eileen finished raising her children by herself, the youngest child only 4 years old. She never remarried. She was a strong and wonderful woman. Her home was always open to her children's friends as they were growing up. There was always room for one more at her plentiful table. She was known for her great cooking and singing while she cooked. You could hear her throughout the house and knew something tasty was being prepared. She was also famous for her contagious laugh, always laughing and chatting with everyone she met. She moved from Maine to Winter Haven, FL in 1976 with her youngest son Gary. She loved to dance particularly the Jitterbug and Polka. For many years she loved to attend the afternoon tea dances at the Winter Haven American Legion, often accompanied by her long time friend and neighbor from Dover Foxcroft, Maine, Greta Lanpher. She had a lot of fun, memories and friends at these Legion dances. She also loved to sing especially with her two sisters, Evangeline and Jeanne. When they were young the pretty trio 'the LaPointe Sisters' would occasionally entertain at small town grange halls and school functions. And what would a birthday be without a phone call from her singing Happy Birthday to you! Until she was 90, she often could be seen sporting around town in her little yellow Thunderbird Sports car. Another example of her outgoing and youthful spirit. Eileen was a much loved, unique and cherished woman and will be missed everyday forever. She will be put to rest next to her husband and two sons at the family plot in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine."

[21043] The sole source for Jacob is an email from Brenda White to Forrest D. Shade, 2 Nov 1999: "My great grandparents are Jacob S. Shade (1866 to 1928) and Lizzie L. Ritzman (1873-1946). Jacob is the son of Jacob S. Shade born 2/7/1830 and died 11/22/1891. He was the son of Jacob who was born 1/30/1790 and died February 18, 1871. He was the son of Andreas Shade Jr., who was born 11/8/1764 and died 6/6/1843. He was the son of Andreas Shade who was born 12/12/1714 and Died 9/1786. I received most of my information from the Washington, D.C. Temple Family History Center, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There is a woman in Florida by the name of Janet Shade who had done very thorough research on the Shade family. There is a book out on the Shade family which she published. I would love to get my hands on a copy. Have you seen this book? I did write her a letter last year and have heard nothing from her. It is possible she may be deceased but I am not sure. My uncle actually visited the homesite for Andreas Shade which he (Andreas) describes in his will." "Elizabethville Echo, 14 June 1928," p. 4: "Jacob S. Shade, aged 62 years and 22 days died very suddenly on ' Monday, June 11th, at his home near Gratz after suffering a heart attack that morning ,and died at 8.45 o'clock. Born in Lykens Township, May 19 1866, he was a son of Jacob and Catherine, (nee Smeltz) Shade, and was married July 3 1892 to Lizzie Ritzman, by the Rev. Mr. Pfleuger at Elizabethville. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Albert M., Roy F., Emma J., George H., Fred L. and Lily at home and Susan, Mrs. Nevin Romberger of Loyalton. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Daniel and Samuel Shade of Gratz; Henry Shade, Spring Glen; Mrs. Lizzie Fischer, Loyalton and Mrs. Lovina Willier of Philadelphia. Mr. and Mrs. Shade had gone to Gratz early Monday morning and while there the husband complained of feeling ill. After transacting their business, he expressed a desire to return home as soon as possible, and drove their automobile to their home completing the return trip only a short time before he died. He had been a resident of Lykens Valley his entire life, had been a miner for 18 years and a farmer for 21 years. Two years ago he retired from active work on his large farm and purchased a smaller tract of land one and one-half miles west of Gratz, where he had lived up to the time of his death. Mr. Shade was the father of one son, Charles Shade, who was a member of the American Expeditionary Forces, and was killed on the Battlefields of France, September 18, 1918, and in honor of whom the Gratz American Legion Post is named."
