He was educated in Prospect schools and was a graduate of Bucksport High School, Class of 1945. Bill retired in 1988 from Champion International Paper Co., Bucksport, after 45 years of service. He was a member of Rising Sun Lodge No. 71 AF & AM, Hancock Chapter No. 19 and Riverside Chapter No. 123 Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a life member of National Rifle Association and Sportsman's Alliance of Maine, and a member of Bucksmills Rod & Gun Club. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and flying. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 36 years, Jane E. Harriman; and brother, Merle E. Harriman of San Francisco. He is survived by his son, Richard J. Harriman Sr. and his wife, Sheryl, of Prospect; three grandchildren, Richard J. Harriman Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Hudson, Rhonda Wong and her husband, Kurtis, of Spokane, Wash., and J.W. Harriman of Prospect; two great-granddaughters, Sophia Grace and Myla Jane Wong, both of Spokane, Wash.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill will also be missed by his very dear companion and special fishing buddy, Jean L. Arsenault of Orland; and his good friend, Gene Bouchard of Penobscot, his old fishing and hunting buddy."
