[47393] "Harrisburg Patriot News, 17 November 2008": "Dean W. Ellerman, Sr., 83, of Carlisle, died Friday, November 14, 2008, in his home. He was born April 16, 1925, in Carlisle, and was a son of the late William A. Ellerman and Maryetta (Rice) Ellerman. Dean was widowed from Mildred E. (Morrison) Ellerman who died Sept. 18, 2003 and to whom he was married for 58 years. He attended Carlisle High School and was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. For more than 35 years, Dean was a custom-home building contractor in the Carlisle area, and was well known for his quality craftsmanship in the more than 300 homes he constructed. He was a member and longtime usher at Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle, a member of the American Legion Post 101-Carlisle, the National Rifle Assoc., a charter and life member of Carlisle Fish & Game Assoc. and life member of V.F.W. Post 477-Carlisle. Dean was a former member of Carlisle Exchange Club. He served on the board of directors with the former Carlisle Building & Loan Assoc., which later became Harris Financial. He also served both companies as a longtime new construction appraiser. He was an avid gardener and attended the farmers market in downtown Carlisle. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and attending craft shows with his late wife. He is survived by one son, Dean W. (and his wife, Gail) Ellerman, Jr. of Navarre, FL, one daughter, Linda S. (and her husband, Fred) Spease of Carlisle, one brother, James G. Ellerman, Carlisle, four grandchildren, Dr. Angela (and her husband, Dr. Kenneth) Tennant, Julie (and her husband, Michael) Muhr, Keith (and his wife, Trudi) Ellerman and Eric (and his wife, Saria) Spease, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews."
