Mr. Wardwell retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years where he served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the Hancock Lodge No 4 AF & AM of Castine. He is survived by one daughter, Susan Martin of Brewer; one son, William Wardwell of Boston, Mass.; two grandchildren, Lynn Ledogar of Brewster, Mass. and Peter Norwood of Orrington; he was also a special Grandpa to Sasha and Kiel Bladen both of Bangor; one sister, Marie Wood of Castine; three brothers, Ernest Wardwell of Bangor, Robert Wardwell of Largo, Fla., and Donald Wardwell of Bucksport; several nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by a special friend, Christopher McGinn of Brewer." Douglas served as a DCI in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
