Bernard's obituary: "MILO- Bernard Wilbur Kinney of Milo, Maine, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, on December 31, 2017, at the age of 91. Bernie, as he liked to be called, was the son of the late Wilbur and Helen Kinney. He is survived by his wife, Lois E. Kinney; his siblings, Phyllis Smith of Atkinson, Maine and Wayne Kinney and his wife Leni of Worcester, Massachusetts; and his five children and their spouses, Joel Kinney and his wife Sandy of Aurora, North Carolina, Jonathan Kinney and his wife Rena of Limington, Maine, Cheryl Purdie of Victoria, British Columbia, Randall Kinney and his wife Michelle of Rockland, Ontario, and Calvin Kinney and his wife Linda of Bangor, Maine. Bernie was also a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Elise and her husband Jonathan, Sarah, Cara, Hilary, Blake, Ryan A., Ryan R., Brandon, Sean, Eric, and one great-grandson, Griffin. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Lois W. Kinney, and his brother, Calvin Kinney, of Atkinson, Maine. After graduating from Foxcroft Academy in 1944, Bernie served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and then attended the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1954. During his long and distinguished career as an environmental testing engineer, he participated in the development of satellites for the U.S. Government on the Corona Project and for the Canadian Government on the Canada Arm Project for the space shuttle program. Bernie was also a proud member of the Mason's Piscataquis Lodge No. 44, a lifelong member of the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
During his long retirement, he enjoyed spending his summers at the family camp on Boyd Lake in Ornville, Maine. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was still deer hunting this past fall. Bernie remained very active, walking every day, and still tackling all the projects at his home. In his downtime, he also enjoyed reading, solving difficult crossword puzzles, and watching old western movies. He lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed."

Strout, 87, husband of Sarah 'Sally' (Palmer) Strout, died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on August 13, 2022. He was born in Houlton, July 3, 1935, the son of Willard Jerome Strout and Dorothy (Lovely) Strout. Ron was raised by his father and Ethel (Dow) Strout after the early passing of his mother. Ron was raised in Houlton, and worked summers for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad throughout his high school years. During the summer of 1953, after he graduated from Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton, he moved to Bangor and continued working for the railroad followed by a couple of summers with Bangor Hydro-Electric Company. Upon graduation from the University of Maine in June 1957, Ron began his career with General Electric. After one month with GE, he reported for active duty with the U.S. Army. His eventual assignment was to the Ordinance Guided Missile School in Huntsville, Alabama where the booster rocket design assisted the early development of NASA. In the late 1950's, Ron met Sally Palmer and they were married on July 2, 1958, in Bangor. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past July. Following his service with the Army, Ron and Sally moved to Syracuse, New York in June 1959, where he continued a long career with General Electric. At GE, Ron worked on television technology as it evolved from vacuum tubes to cathode ray tubes and semiconductors. This included several international business trips to Japan, Taiwan, China, Singapore, and the Soviet Union. The TV business thrived and expanded to southeastern Virginia, where Ron and Sally raised their two children, Douglas and Stephen. Following his career with GE, Ron worked for E-Systems (now Raytheon) and after he retired, was employed by LL Bean in Maine. Upon retirement in 1994, Ron and Sally moved back to Bangor, Maine where Ron enjoyed a life of retirement focused on his favorite hobbies including family genealogy research, reading, and gardening. In addition to his wife, Sarah (Sally), Ron is survived by his sons, Douglas Strout and his wife, Mary Beth McLeod; Stephen Strout and his wife, Anne Strout; as well as five grandchildren, Mallory, Carson, Catherine, Paige, and Norah; and one great grandchild, Henry."
