[29171] The unverified New Rice Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2011 offers his ancestry and states Joseph and wife are buried in the Emanuel Lutheran and Reformed Churchyard in Saville Twp. "The News [Newport, Pennsylvania]," 12 March 1896, p. 3: "Saville, March 10 - Joseph Rice, an aged and respected citizen, passed away on Sunday afternoon, in his 88th year. He was an active member of the Reformed church for many years, but for the last ten years was unable to be present in his pew. He was a wagonmaker by trade and worked at it for many years. His remains are to be interred in the cemetery here Wednesday forenoon. The following children survive: Charles S. Absolom and Mrs. Sarah Rice, all of Saville; David, of Loysville; John of Wilkes-barre, and Mrs. Jennie Weibley, of Harrisburg. His wife died several years ago."
