[17407] Capt. William Leach was called "Jr." to distinguish him from William, son of Major Leach. His farm was south of Peletiah, Jr., William, Sr. and Daniel Leach's farms on Route 199 (the Penobscot-Castine road), and his was the last house before the Castine town line in Penobscot. In 1870, Samuel Dunbar, age 43, retied merchant, ws living with them per census. The 1850 federal census in Penobscot lists him as a Sea Captain.
