[1710] One source gives his date of death as 16 Aug 1137. His brothers reigned before him: Pedro I (1094-1104) and Alphonso I (1104-1134). "Ancestral Roots..." 111-25 gives his death as 1157 and calls him "the Monk." His brother, Alfonso the Battler, had willed the crown and patrimony to the monastic orders of the Temple, the Hospital and the Holy Sepulchre. The upper class in Aragon opposed this and elected the brother, Ramiro, as successor - and Ramiro had to renounce his vows as a monk and marry in order to provide an heir for the throne. Meanwhile, the king of Castile-Leon, Alfonso VIII "the Emperor" had designs on much of the Aragon territory. This is why Ramiro gave his infant daughter in marriage to the strongest young count in the area. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cousin/html/p86.htm states "He was was a monk, known as San Pedro el Viego de Huesca between 1093 and 1134. He was bishop-elect of Barbastro before 1134. He selected by the Aragonese nobles to replace his brother, he renounced his vows, married, and ascended the throne of Aragon in 1134. . . . He was the Ramiro II of the Bell of Heusca legend (Ramiro II's 12th-century massacre of mutinous nobles). He abdicated in favour of his daughter and son-in-law in 1137. He was returned to the cloister in 1137." See http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramiro_II_de_Aragón. Cf. Royalty for Commoners, The Complete Known Lineage of John of Gaunt, Son of Edward III, King of England, and Queen Philip
[58325] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 17 August 2023: "Guilford and Monson - Dorcas Benton Leavitt, 88, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023, surrounded by her four children. Dorcas was born January 5, 1935, in Monson, daughter of Rutherford B. Benton and Adessa (Johnson) Benton. Dorcas married Cyril 'Bud' Leavitt, Sr. on November 11, 1950, and they were married 55 years until Bud's passing in 2006. Dorcas went back to high school when her youngest daughter started first grade to earn her high school diploma and proudly graduated from Monson Academy in 1964. Her many accomplishments included being a devoted wife and mother, a bookkeeper for her husband's business, and a personal assistant to professional photographer, Berenice Abbott, traveling often with her to photography and art exhibitions. Dorcas's many enjoyments included reading, swimming, ice skating, playing the piano, and taking pride in her home. Her favorite color was white and it was a family joke that she painted all things white and preferred to wear only white. Above all, Dorcas loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing all the times she spent with them and was always proud to share in their accomplishments. She is survived by her son, Cyril M. Leavitt Jr. and wife, Beth; and three daughters, Vikki Ryder and husband, Charles, Valri Smiley and husband, David, and Vanesa Korsman and husband, Arvo. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Cyril M. Leavitt III and wife, Jennifer, Maris Glennon and husband, Michael, Tatum Scott and husband, Michael, Chelsey Hancock, Daralyn Herrick, Darby Goodreau, Garnet Burgess and husband, Randy, and Greta Luellen and husband, John; and twelve great-grandchildren, Kendall and Lainey Drake, Pryce and Landon Leavitt, Ryder Gray, Addyson and Avery Herrick, Ayden Goodreau, Ryker and Rylan Burgess, and Miles and Mila Luellen; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Langert and Charlene Lowe. She was predeceased by her parents; beloved husband, Bud; sister, Barbara Robinson; and brother, Kendrick Benton. Private graveside services will be held at the family lot at Hillside Cemetery in Monson."

"COMMEMORATIVE BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD OF CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA" - P.1482: "JOHN MOHNEY, THE SON OF ADAM AND THE GREAT GRANDFATHER OF OUR SUBJECT (JOHN F. MOHNEY),MARRIED CATHERINE WAGNER, AND THEY BECAME THE PARENTS OF THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: MARIA, ELIZABETH, SUSANNA, MARY, CATHERINE, SARAH, LYDIA, CHRISTINA, FREDERICK, JACOB, ADAM, JOHN, AND ABRAM. IT WAS IN 1811 THAT JOHN MOHNEY AND HIS WIFE CAME FROM NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, PENN., TO CLARION COUNTY AND LOCATED UPON A PORTION OF THE LAND WHICH HIS FATHER HAD PURCHASED, ERECTING A LARGE STONE HOUSE THEREON IN 1824. HE WAS A FARMER BY OCCUPATION, AND A DEMOCRAT IN POLITICS, WHILE RELIGIOUSLY HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE GERMAN REFORMED CHURCH. BOTH HE AND HIS WIFE DIED ON THE OLD HOMESTEAD, AND WERE BURIED AT OAKRIDGE."
"HISTORY OF REDBANK TOWNSHIP," CHAPTER LXVI, p. 582: "John Mohney, Sr., purchased of Pickering & Company a five hundred-acre tract adjoining Nolf's on the south, and built a log house near where Jacob Brinker now lives, and in 1824 erected the stone house which still remains standing. The wisdom of Mr. Mohney's selection of land is now quite obvious, as the best farms at the present time in Redbank township lie within this tract. Mr. Mohney became an extensive farmer, raising large crops of wheat, which for want of a market was fed to the stock. At his death, the tract was divided into smaller farms, and occupied by his heirs. Adam and Abe located on the eastern part, Isaac on that part lying north of Millville, and subsequently known as the Guyre farm, John on that which is now owned by Jacob Brinker, Mrs. William Hoffman on what is now owned by James McWilliams, Mrs. Miller on the part joining Millville on the west, and Jacob located on a tract in Armstrong county."
