[58329] Glendon's obituary: "Glendon A. Winton, 92, passed peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough. Glendon was born in Livermore Falls on July 16, 1928, the son of the late Harold W. and Georgia A. (Knowlton) Winton. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School in the class of 1946. Immediately following high school, Glendon went to work for International Paper Company as a paper cruiser. In 1950 he was accepted in the Forestry Program at the University of Maine at Orono where he graduated in 1955. After graduation, Glendon was drafted into the United States Army, and remained in the Army for 7 years, where he spent most of his time in Germany, as a Company Commander, Unit Commander, and a First Lieutenant. Glen loved his jobs in hardware at Christy's Hardware in Portland and Scotty's in Florida. On June 26, 1976, Glendon married the love of his life, Donna L. Furman at the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church in Livermore Falls. They shared 27 years together. He was an avid reader and whittler, a skill that he picked up when he got a pocketknife for Christmas at the age of 12. Something Glen always wanted to do was to go skydiving, which he finally did to celebrate his 70th birthday. He was a longtime diehard fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics. Glendon was predeceased by his wife Donna Winton and her daughter Joyce. He is survived by a sister, Gloria and her husband Quentin Hall of Auburn; nieces, Karen Shaw and Sharon Labonte; Donna's sons Ross Furman, Bruce Furman and Dean Furman and numerous other members of both families."
