[46407] "Villisca Review, 2 January 1941," p. 4: "Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home for Mrs. Ella Brockmeier, pioneer resident of Villisca, who died Monday night at the Lewis nursing home after a long illness. The Rev. E. M. Buehler will have charge of the final rites and burial will be made in the Villisca Cemetery. The singing will be by Mrs. Cy Underwood accompanied by Mrs. Frances Wheeler and the pall bearers will be Cy Underwood, Wesley VanValkenburg, Maurice Wendling, W. E. Brudick, Donald Stickler, and Was Sandquist. Ella Skinner, daughter of Reuben and Louisa Skinner, was born in Topeka, Illinois September 11, 1864 and was 76 years old at her death. When she was 3 years old she came with her family to Iowa, settling on a farm near Hawleyville and moving a few years later to Villisca, which was her home the remainder of her life. She was united in marriage to William Frederick Brockmeier on August 6, 1883 and to them were born eight children, two of whom, Zula Blanch and Frederick William are deceased. Mrs. Brockmeier was preceded in death also by her husband on December 25, 1924 after forty two years of wedded life. In early life Mrs Brockmeier united with the Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Surviving are two sisters, Andrea Posten of Villisca and Mrs. Emma Sidey of Kenowak, Oklahoma and the following children, Mrs. A. R. Paullin, Newton, Iowa, Mrs. W. F. Heath, Duluth, Minnesota, Mrs. J. T. Oliver, Villisca, H. E. Brockmeier, Zion Park, Utah, C. E. Brockmeier, Jamestown, North Dakota, and W. K. Brockmeier, Litchfield, Minnesota. There are also fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren."

[9433] John is son of William Swarner and Margaret Titzel. John m. (2) Sophia Waggoner (1817-1910). Most of his life he resided on his parents' homestead south of Loysville, PA. "The Perry County Democrat, 16 August 1905," p. 3: "John Swarner, one of the old and substantial citizens of this county, died at his home near Landisburg on Monday afternoon aged about 84 years. His death was due to general debility, resulting from old age. The funeral will be on Thursday and Interment will be made in the Landisburg cemetery. The deceased was a highly respected and prominent gentleman. In his younger days he took an active part In the political and industrial affairs of his community and was a man of good judgment, high character and strict integrity. In political faith he was a Democrat. He attended the Reformed church. He was twice married, his second wife, whose maiden name was Miss Sophia Wagner, survives, and he also leaves one son, Frank Swarner, of near Loysville.
