[55526] "The Bangor Daily News [ Bangor, Maine]." 13 September 2023: "Blue Hill - Philip Small, 77, passed away September 11, 2023, in Brewer. He was born in Hartland, February 27, 1946, the son of Frank E. and Beatrice E. (Mills) Small. Phil was a lobsterman by summer and woodcutter by winter. He loved restoring his 1965 Ford Fastback Mustang and taking it to car shows collecting his blue ribbons and trophies. He proudly attended and cheered his grandson at baseball games; enjoyed reading all the books his granddaughter picked out for him by his trusty wood stove; and best of all kicking the family's butts at cribbage game night and grinning the whole time. He is survived by his adoring wife, Rose-Ellen of 57 years; daughters, Rebecca and husband, Keith, Christie and partner, Sean; grandchildren, Patrick Philip, Allyson, Austin, and Dalton; brother, Dennis and wife, Cathy; sister, Judith; sisters-in-law, Leola, Leona, and Joyce; brother-in-law, Leon Manley; special nephew, David Pingree; and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother-in-law, David Wing. A memorial service will be held September 22, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Blue Hill Congregational Church."
