Harry Edward "Bud" Faubel, Jr., 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at his home. Born September 5, 1927 at the family farmette in Clay Hill, PA, Bud was the second son of four to the late Harry Edward and Catherine Fulton Faubel. He was a graduate of the former Greencastle High School and Penn State University. Bud served with the US Navy during the Korean War as a fighter pilot and then served with the US Air Force as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam War. He had many different careers during his lifetime including 31 years as a commercial airline pilot with US Airways and then flying in the Manassas (VA) Flying Circus as an acrobatic pilot for 7 ½ years. He taught flying to many local businessmen. Bud also raced cars, starting with junkers from his father's garage in Chambersburg. He went on to drag racing and circuit racing for NRA and NASCAR, winning the Daytona race in 1961 with "Big Red - The Honker". Of his many other careers, he served as a Deputy Sheriff for Franklin County, PA and taught the Dale Carnegie Courses "How To Win Friends and Influence People" at the local college. He owned and operated Shively Motors and Eastland Motors situated along Lincoln Highway in Chambersburg.
He served the community in many ways; as a proud Rotarian with over fifty years of perfect attendance; as a Board member of Occupation Services, Inc., and as a member and President of the Auto Dealers Association for many years. His hobbies included a great love for flying and ballroom dancing. He enjoyed teaching dancing for many years in the Washington, DC area and owning a single's club of about 2000 attendees.
In addition to his loving wife, Barbara Burg, he is survived by a son William Douglas Burg, Jr.; a daughter Deborah Eileen Burg Shrieves; and three grandchildren, Jacob William Shrieves, Lauren Ann Burg, and William Douglas Burg, Jr., all of Colorado. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Betty Piper Faubel; and two brothers, Robert Edward Faubel and James Edward Faubel.

She is free at last from the bonds of Parkinson's disease. Mary was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Elwood and Marion (Trainor) Patten. Mary, a lifelong resident of Ellsworth, graduated from Ellsworth High School, class of 1947. She married the love of her love, Glendon Preston Sprague, July 27, 1949. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage together during which they raised three children. Mary worked at Hancock County Court House in two different offices. For many years she was a clerk in the Registry of Deeds and subsequently was elected registrar of deeds, where she served the citizens of Hancock County for several years. She finished her career at the Department of Civil Defense. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Glendon; children, Julie and her husband, Roger Grindle, Rick and his wife, Rochelle Sprague, and Janis and her husband, Tom Frost; grandchildren, Shayna Nickerson and husband, Michael, Joshua Frost and wife, Susan, Timothy Frost and wife, Amanda, Travis Frost and girlfriend, Lacie Dow, Aaron Sprague and wife, Jessica, Shawn Grindle and girlfriend, Josslyn DeCrosta, and Ashlee Robinson and husband, David; five delightful great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy and happiness, Elizabeth, Emma, Hannah, Noah and Ian Frost; her only sister, Laureen Leland and husband, Robert; brother-in-law, Lester Sprague and wife, Harriet; and sister-in-law, Lois Preble and husband, Jack.
