He was born July 24, 1856, in Scott township, Kosciusko county, Indiana, and had spent most of his life on the farm where he died. He was the son of Tobias and Mary Hepler. His marriage to Mary Ellen Evans took place in 1880. Surviving are Harvey Hepler, Houston, Texas; Claude Hepler, Warsaw, Ind., and Lloyd; three daughters, Mrs. Dora Roose and Mrs. Floyd Weaver, Goshen, ind., and Mrs. Maude Hawley, Nappanee, two brothers, Jefferson Hepler, Leesburg, Ind., and George Hepler, Nappanee; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Geiser and Mrs. Sarah Johrison, both of Nappanee; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren."
