She was born on April 3, 1939, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Edwin and Minola (Moulton) Austin. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Orton Preble in 2022. Jane graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1957, and the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Presque Isle the following year. She did postgraduate work in nursing at Baylor University in Texas and was an exchange student in Sweden in 1961. Jane worked for over 16 years at the Maple Crest Nursing Home in Sullivan. She volunteered with hospice for over 25 years. Jane enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, baking, walking, and gardening. She loved her family and friends and was a member of the Hancock Congregational Church. Jane is survived by her son David Preble and wife Joyce of Hancock, her daughter Vanessa Preble and partner Jerry Roberson of Ellsworth, grandson Dustin Pinkham and partner Samantha Jones of Ellsworth, sister Sally Archer and husband Don of Cottonwood, Utah, and sister-in-law Margret Austin of Ellsworth. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on May 25, 2024, at Simpson Cemetery, in Sullivan."

He died on October 2, 1421, in his hometown at the age of 39, and was buried in Chertsey, Surrey, England. . . . Philippa Dalyngruge was born in 1398 in Bodiam, Sussex, England. She married Richard Berners on June 1, 1408, in her hometown. . . . . She died as a young mother on October 2, 1421, in Bodiam, Sussex, England, at the age of 23."

Brinkerhoff Stough, 84, a patient in the Heritage Care Center, died in Shelby Memorial Hospital Tuesday evening following a short illness. She was born in Fredericktown, and lived in Shelby most of her life. She worked as a clerk at the Shelby Air Force Depot for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Daughters of America, charter member of the Shelby Chapter of the American Cancer Society Board of Directors, and a charter member of the Shelby Y Community Center Board of Directors. Surviving are one son, Melvin Stough of Shelby; one daughter, Mrs. Marlon Welsh of Mansfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren." Lena is daughter of Charles Brinkerhoff (18731950) & Leota Maude Bradrick (18741965).
