Brillhart, a Loganville native who was chairman of the board of the Bethlehems Globe Publishing company, died yesterday after a long illness. He was a leader in Bethlehem business and civic affairs. Brillhart, 71, was a son of the late David Y. and Mary Alice Herbst Brillhart. He started his business career with Pennsylvania Steel company in 1907. He was chairman of the board of Union Bank and Trust company in Bethlehem; a director of the Lehigh Valley and the Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England railroads and of the Pennsylvania Power and Light company; vice president and a director of the Press Publishing corporation in Atlantic City and a former president of the Bethlehem Hotel corporation. He was a former adviser to the Philadelphia office of the Reconstruction Finance corporation. He was treasurer, a trustee and past president of St. Luke's hospital board of trustees in Bethlehem, a former trustee of Moravian College and Seminary for Women, and a former president of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Press reported. Brillhart attended Juniata college and was graduated from Lehigh university in 1906 with a degree in civil engineering. He was a recipient of a Lehigh alumni honor award. His wife, the former Elizabeth Lehr, two sons, two daughters and six grandchildren are among survivors. A sister, Mrs. Jacob Myers, lives in Hanover, and there is a brother, Charles Brillhart, of Fort Worth, Tex.
