[51271] Alvin is son of Andrew J. Hatch (1878-1961) & Annie Dora Wilson (1881-1965; m. 20 May 1900 in ME). "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 16 May 1996, p. 19: "Bar Harbor - Alvin U. Hatch Sr., 95, died peacefully with family at his side at a Bar Harbor hospital, May 15, 1996. He was born in Bradford, Sept. 23, 1900, the son of Andrew Joseph and Annie Dora (Wilson) Hatch. Alvin was a member of the Civil Air Patrol during World War II and received a 'Citation and Air Medal Award' signed by President Harry S. Truman. He had owned and operated an IGA store on Ledgelawn Avenue, Bar Harbor. He and his son had operated Hatch's Wholesale Fruit and Produce Co. for more than 20 years, as well as a second hand furniture store. He was an avid sportsman, and he and his son had owned their own plane. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Bar Harbor. Alvin will be sadly missed by his many friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years. Myrtle L. (Ellingwood) in 1975; one daughter, Carolyn M. Dunton in 1991; two brothers, Edward in 1967 and Argie in 1994; and a great-grandson, Jonathan W. Hatch in 1994. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alvin U. Jr. and Ada G. Hatch; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine H. and Richard M. Emery; one son-in-law, Irving L. Dunton Jr.; one brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Blanche Hatch of Canada; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews."
