[44651] The unverified file in 2018 at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Alford-1415 offers: "Rosetta Alford's first name has been left as it is in the Alford History, "Rosetta", but note that in her birth certificate she appears as 'Rocittee'. Rosetta Alford was born on 18 Nov 1765 at Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut Colony. This information differs from her Find a Grave Entry, which gives a birth date of 18 Nov 1768 at Rutland County, Vermont. The birth certificate information (1765, Connecticut) has been used in WikiTree. She died around 25 Aug 1832 and is buried at Lakeside Cemetery, Colon, St. Joseph, Michigan, United States, presumably where she died. She was the daughter of Col Benedict Alford (1716-abt 1790) and Rebecca Owen (1736-1831) Benedict and Rebecca had six children, but Benedict had another eight by his first wife Jerusha Ashley (abt 1723-1761), so there were at least 14 sibilings in the family. . . . Rosetta married Martin Shellhous (abt 1762-abt 1813). The date has been estimated @ 1789 based on the birth of their child Martin in 1790. The marriage ended with Martin's death around 27 Nov 1813 on their journey from Vermont to settle in Ohio. The name appears in different forms, Shellhous, Shellhouse, Schellhous, Shelhouse, Schelhous, etc. Shellhous has been used because it was the name uploaded in WikiTree. [4] Rosetta died 19 years later around 1832. Rosetta and Martin had at least 11 children, six of whom are listed in Rosetta's Find a Grave Entry . . . " See http://www.alfordassociation.org.
