She married Howard Kenyon Halladay on July 24, 1923, in Oakland, California. She died on April 6, 1989, in Waynesboro, Virginia, at the age of 96." "The News Leader [Staunton, Virginia], 8 April 1989," p. 2: "Vida A. Halladay, 96, of 1260 Chatham Road, Waynesboro, died Thursday afternoon (April 6, 1989) at Waynesboro Community Hospital. She was born Oct. 6, 1892 in Bedford, Ohio, a daughter of George and Alda (Heichel) Wells. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard K. Halladay, April 26, 1973. She was a member of the Waynesboro Seventh Day Adventist Church. Survivors include one foster son, John M. Beach of Orlando, Fla.; and one sister, Josephine Thurber of Waynesboro. A service will be conducted 4 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Merle J. Whitney at McDow Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at noon Monday at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md."
