He was a machine operator at the former T.R.W., Harrisburg, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Simeon Lutheran Church, Gratz, the Gratz Area Senior Citizens, VFW Post No. 2385 Diamond. Jubilee, RD1 Lykens,,and the Alvin Long American Legion Post No: 504, RD1 Herndon. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and gardening. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Elura Erdman, Alpha Klinger, Mary Maurer, Margaret Schlegel, Verna Spotts, Elsie Fetterolf; five brothers, Gurney, Guy, Charles, Whalen and Lee P. Starr. Surviving are his wife, the former Mae L. Kissinger; two sons, Charles M., Vacaville, Calif., and Allen E., Boiling Springs; a sister, Mae Erdman, Lykens; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews."
