He also spelled his surname Connor (as on his tombstone in the Castine cemetery, lot L 604). "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 7 September 1942," p. 7: "Castine, Sept. 6 - Robert A. Connor, 64, died suddenly at his home here Saturday evening. He was born in Penobscot, the son of the late Ezra and Ada Connor. He has lived in Castine for more than 40 years. Mr. Connor lost his wife two years ago. He was a member of the IOOF. He is survived by two sons, Robert K. Connor of the U. S. Coast Guard. and Gerald Connor of Plainville, Conn.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and four brothers, Norman, Rochelle, Merle and Arthur, all of Castine."

[3086] John died in February or March, 1706. The surname is found in Somersetshire, England, with variant spellings in Gloucester, Wilts, Surrey and Sussex counties. The first record of John is at York, Maine as a witness, 1669. He was a bricklayer at Kittery. Before the frontier war of 1676 he resided on the west side of Spruce Creek - during the war he fled to Boston where 20 Feb 1682 he joined the Boston Baptist Church; Sarah was baptised there in July, 1682; they returned to Kittery that year and helped organize a Baptist Church there. John had a license to sell retail goods, 1694-97. His will 6 Feb 1706 was probated 15 March 1706. His wife, Sarah, was selling drink in 1706; in 1707 she had a license to run a public house, which license was renewed in 1709 and 1719.
