Margaret's ancestry is from the unverified Hubert Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2011.
An unverified file in Ancestry.com in 2011 offers:
"John Camoys married Margaret, daughter and heiress of Sir John de Gatesdene. John subsequently "made over by deed to Sir William Paynell, whose wife she was then called..."
"There must be an incredible story here. Infidelity was not unheard of, but to deed over a wife with no attempt at dissolution of the marriage was unheard of. A man would usually pack his wayward wife away to convent.
"In 1289, John Camoys further granted to Paynell all the lands he held in Sussex in right of his wife for a term of 100 years, i.e. for his own lifetime. Despite being a significant landholder, John seems to have had significant debts and sold large tracts of land during his lifetime. Margaret was able to gain control of her dowry from John. There is no apparent record of how amicable that transaction was.
"Margaret outlived John and under this deed claimed on his death her dower of one third of his estate, but this by judgement by Parliment, 29 and 30 ED.I (1301-2), was negatived on the ground that a husband's deed could not legalize adultery. After her husband's death, she obtained license on paying the King 100 marks, to marry whom she pleased, whereupon she married Sir William Paynell, finally making the arrangement legal. Paynell's arms were "argent 2 bars sable between 7 martlets gules, 4, 2 and 1."

[53048] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 12 October 2021: "Sangerville - It is with deep sorrow and much love, that we mourn the passing of Doris (Edgecomb) Hartford of Sangerville, Maine on October 10, 2021, at the age of 92 years. She was born one of nine children in Limestone, Maine and worked very hard in her youth. Doris met Ronald Hartford in seventh grade, and he told everyone that he would marry her one day. When they reconnected at a dance hall in their late teens, their love was kindled. Doris and Ronald were married on Feb. 12, 1949. Together they raised 5 wonderful children and shared 68 loving years in their home in Sangerville. Over the years Doris and Ronald traveled extensively, visiting 49 of the 50 States, many parts of Canada, and even parts of Australia. They built several camps, in Sangerville, on Whetstone Pond, and in PEI, Canada where they loved to entertain their many close friends and their treasured children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Doris loved to cook, and wouldn't let anyone go hungry! But what everyone wanted, at the end of the day, was one of her homemade molasses cookies! Doris' warm heart and quiet, calm nature made her a priceless friend and confidant. She will be dearly missed by her cribbage and dice playing friends, especially her loving neighbor, Michelle. That same gentle heart soothed many babies, her daughters even called her the 'baby whisperer.' Doris remains in the hearts of her surviving children; son, Steven Hartford and wife, Brenda, daughter, Carol Goulette and husband, David, daughter, Cheryl Ruksznis and husband, Frank, daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hartford, and daughter-in-law, Linda Hartford; her 11 grandchildren and their spouses, and her 23 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ronald; son, Ronnie, and son, Michael; as well as being the last remaining member of her immediate family."
[47144] Find A Grave memorial 67129599 offers David's obituary: "David B. Esh, 80, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC-67, Mifflin, PA, and formerly of RR1 Port Royal, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at the village. Born April 15, 1925 in Spruce Hill, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Edgar P. and Edna (Ewing) Esh. His wife of nearly 58 years, Reba R. (Ritzman) Esh, survives. Also surviving are: children, David B. Esh and wife Trish of Salisbury, MD, Peggy J. Noss and husband Tom Jr. of Honey Grove, Susan E. Henderson and husband Ralph of Mifflintown, Gail E. Switzer and husband Robert of Mifflintown; and eight grandchildren. Being the last of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Esh. He was a farmer and self-employed TV repair technician. Mr. Esh was a protestant by faith. He was a member of the Old Buzzards' Radio Club, the Spruce Hill Grange #772, and the Pomona Grange where he received various degrees. He enjoyed being an amateur radio operator and was well known for setting up and operating the sound systems at various local carnivals."
