"The Paternal Ancestry of Homer Beers James" at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~pmcbride/james/f037.htm offers: "Nigil (Nele) de Albini (d'Aubigny), the younger son of Roger de Albini and the brother of William de Albini, was the founder of the family from which the ancient Earls of Arundel descended. The Albinis, who were maternally of the house of Mowbray, came into England with William the Conqueror, and obtained large possessions after the victory at Hastings. Nigil's grants lay in the cos. Bucks, Bedford, Warwick, and Leicester, and comprised several extensive lordships. In the reign of Rufus, he was bow-bearer to the king; and being knighted by King Henry I., had the manor of Egmanton, with divers parks in the forest of Shirwood, of that monarch's gift; which lordship he transferred however, to his particular friend, Robert Davil. But when King Henry had further experience with his valor and military skill, he augmented his royal bounty, and conferred upon him the vavassories of Camville and Wyvile; which gracious marks of favor so attached Albini to the interests of the his sovereign, that he espoused with the most devoted zeal the cause of Henry, against his brother, Robert Curthose, and took a conspicuous part in the battle of Tenercheby in 1106, he there slew the horse of Curthose, and brought the prince himself to the king; for which eminent service the king granted him the English lands of Robert de Stuteville, Baron of Frontebeof, which Frontebeof had fortified in behalf of Curthose. During the Norman rebellion, he, with his brother, William de Albini, remained faithful to King Henry I. and fought for him at the victory over the French king at Bremule on August 20, 1119. He had a grant of Montbrai or Mowbray and the other forfeited lands in Normandy and England of Robert de Mowbray, Earl of Northumberland, his maternal uncle; as also his castles, with the castle of Bayeux and its appurtenences; so that he had no less than 120 knight's fees in Normandy, and a s many in England; thus becoming one of the most powerful persons of the period in which he lived. He married after 1107 (1) Maud Aquila, daughter of Richard de Aquila, 2nd baron of Aquila, by permission of Pope Paschall; her husband, Robert de Mowbray, Earl of Northumberland, before-mentioned, being then alive, and in prison for rebellion against King William Rufus; from this lady he was, however, divorced, on account of consanguity, and by her had no issue. He married in June 1118 (2) by the special advise of King Henry I., Gundred de Gourney, sister of Hugh and daughter of Gerald de Gourney, who died in 1096, and his wife, Edith, daughter of William, 1st Earl of Surrey, and had two sons as follows: 1. Roger de Albini, his successor. 2. Henry de Albini, who had the lordship and barony of Cambo, and was ancestor of the Albinis, feudal lords of that place."

Mary's ancestor, Wendall Fackler, emigrated from Germany and fought in the War for Independence, according to descendant Franz Vail. Ancestry.com offers: "Fackler Name Meaning - occupational name for a torchmaker or for someone whose job was to light or carry a torch, from Middle High German vackel 'torch' + agent suffix -er. Eastern German: from a short form of the Slavic personal name Wenceslaw or other Slavic names beginning with Vech- or Vach. In 'A Maine Town in the Civil War' by Vernal Hutchinson, 1957, he writes on page 66 that Isaiah Eaton died soon after he was wounded on the field of Gettsyburg. "He was married, the father of four small children. His widow soon remarried; the children were put out for adoption. They would never have the chance to grow up as brothers and sisters." I can only see that this was such a tragedy of war and it's effect on not only this family but many others as well. One has to survive!"

She was bom Sept. 25, 1901, in Penobscot, the daughter of Herman L. and Carol M. (Perkins) Leach. Until her death, Tena had the distinction of being Orland's oldest resident. She was a member of the Orland United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Group. She was past matron of the Order of Eastern Star Riverside Chapter No. 123 of Orland; past president of the Matron Club, Orland; and a member of the Hancock County Extension. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Sherry, Marlene, Debbie, Betsy, Eugene, Elizabeth, Charlene and Ken; sister-in-law, Christina Gray; daughter-in-law, Elida Gray; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many very dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Merle W. Grey in 1979; daughter, Thelma Mae Grey in 1925; four sons, Eugene L. Grey in 1944, Theodore M. Grey in 1990, Stanley Grey in 1999 and C. Wayne Gray in 2000; great-granddaughter, Rachel Libby in 1999."

[49129] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 2 May 1962," p. 20: "Augusta - Clyde Roscoe Snowman, 50, chief warrant officer of the Maine National Guard, died at his home early Monday morning. He was born August 6, 1911 at Woodland, son of George and Albina (Hersey) Snowman. A veteran of World War II, he was employed as superintendent of the combined field maintenance shops of the 142nd Ordinance Company, Maine National Guard. He was a member and deacon of the Penney Memorial United Baptist Church. He enlisted in the National Guard in Battery B, 152nd Field Artillery Battalion, in Caribou in 1932, and was with the battery when it was inducted into the federal service in February, 1941. He was discharged in October 1945. He re-enlisted in the National Guard in 1948 and had more than 30 years service at the time of his death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Virginia (Webb) Snowman; a son, Charles David, both of Augusta; his mother; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Steeves, both of Caribou; a brother, Milton, of Coudersport, Pa.; several nieces and nephews."
