Garverich, 71, of 336 North Thoman St., Crestline, died this morning in Fairview Manor Nursing Home, Bucyrus. He had been ill for the past several months. Mr. Garverick was a native of Richland County, a graduate of Johnsville High School and Cincinnati College of Embalming. He was a funeral director in Crestline for 35 years, moving there from Utica. He was engaged as a funeral director for 45 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, was a 33 year member of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Odd Fellows, and the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Garverick was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Galion Elks lodge. He is survived by his wife, Maude M.; and two daughters, Mrs. Willard (Maxine) Light of Bucyrus, and Mrs. Luther (Margaret) Lamb of Crestline; one son, John C. of Alexandria, Va.; 11 grandchildren; one great -grandson; one sister, Mrs. Gar Smith of Mt. Gilead and three brothers, Dr. Calvin C. of Long Beach, Calif., Irvin of Mt. Vernon and Meryl J. of Crestline. Services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Garverick Home of Snyder and Kubach Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles P. Beronius will officiate. Burial will be in Shauck Cemetery."

[51556] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 4 May 2016": " Barbara L. Lilly, 80, of Winter Harbor, daughter of the late Alta L. and Earl M. Gerrish, passed away peacefully and with the loving family presence, May 1, 2016, at Seaport Village, Ellsworth. She was born Nov. 5, 1935, at Winter Harbor. Barbara attended Winter Harbor High School for three years and graduated as a member of the first graduating class at Sumner Memorial High School, Sullivan. She graduated from Husson University and her first employment was in an administrative position for Dr. Chesley H. Husson, founder and president of Husson University. Her love for basketball was enhanced by two local sports icons: the late Coach Del Merrill, Sumner High School, and Coach Clara Swan, Husson University. Her career was in management positions in Human Resources and Commissary Store operations. She was selected as the first Commissary Store director at the new store, which opened November 1987, at Bangor Air National Guard base in Bangor. She retired in 1992 from federal civil service after 33 years. After retirement, she volunteered for 12 years and gave two days per week at the Eastern Maine Medical Center, ICU, Chaplain Service and the Volunteer Services Office. Barbara was a kind and caring person, always thinking of others first. She was the type of person that others wanted as a friend. She was always positive and supportive in her many roles, acknowledging significant events and challenging times for others through cards and acts of kindness. She loved her family and friends and was an excellent role model for all. One of her greatest moments in her later years was to serve as the grand marshal of the annual Winter Harbor Lobster Festival Parade during the 2015 event. She was a life member of Pi Rho Zeta sorority, life member of Winter Harbor Historical Society, life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and served as a member for many years with the Winter Harbor Cemetery Association. Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years, James W. Lilly, Winter Harbor; daughter Cathy Carruthers, Winter Harbor, daughter Susan Campbell, her husband, Wayne, of Poquoson, Va., granddaughter Laura Mahon and her husband, Robert, Woodbridge, Va., one great-granddaughter Madison Lilly Mahon, Woodbridge, Va. She is also survived by one brother Richard Gerrish, Winter Harbor, and many supportive cousins. Also many nieces and nephews who love their 'Aunt Barbara'. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and cousins Marie Noble and Fran Myrick."

He was born October 4, 1949, in Castine, the son of Keith and Rachel Snow. Hal graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1967 and served with the Merchant Marines until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He served for two years and came home to live and work on Holbrook Island for 16 years. After 1987 he worked as a carpenter, caretaker, and handyman. He married Andrea Smith on June 29, 1974, in Presque Isle. They were married for 50 years in June. Hal was devoted to his family, friends, and community. He served on the Brooksville School Board, The Library Board, Historical Society Board, Friends of Holbrook Island, and other community committees. He began as a selectman in 2015, a position he took great pride in until his last day with us. He helped nurture the respect and love of hunting with several kids from town over the years. He coached and officiated at many of the school and town sporting events long after his kids left school - most recently keeping score at the Jared C. Grindle tournament. Hal is survived by his wife, Andrea; son, Joshua Snow and wife, Bente, their daughters, Emma and Anna; daughter, Darcy Snow and husband, Matthew Russell, and their son, Aidan DeRaps-Russell; two sisters, Shirley Estabrook and Lucy Vachon and husband, John; and brother, Steven Snow and wife, Cathy. He was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his father, Keith Snow."

Re: Pennsylvania Milita Act, 17 Mar 1777: The 1777 militia law expired in 1780, but it was immediately re-enacted. The numerical sequence of the Bns in ea Comp. changed to correspond with the relative seniority of their commanding officers. If a number designation of a Bn. changed, it was probably because that the CO was either senior or junior to the other Bn. CO's. Often, the Co. Militia units were activated for guarding prisoners of war at Lancaster.
Based on the record of Michael Traxler's enrollment in the PA Militia, his Revolutionary Service was accepted by The Daughters of the American Revolution. My
DAR National number is 0634404, 2 Feb 1979. Once the connection/relationship to Michael Traxler is established, any descendent of his is eligible for membership in the DAR, SAR or CAR.
According to John Henry Aue's military record (PA State Archives, Harrisburg, PA), he was enrolled in the Berks Co. Militia. At one time, he failed to report when his class and company was called to duty and paid a fine. Apparently, this was very common among the enrollees in the State Militia. Many reasons can be cited: crops to plant or harvest, illness, etc.)
