Smith, 82, of Johnsville, died early Friday afternoon in Morrow County Hospital, Mount Gilead, after a five-month illness. She was a native of Crawford County but lived most of her life in the Johnsville area. On May 17, 1918, she was married to Gar Smith, who survives. A former school teacher, she had been associated with schools in Johnsville, Lexington, Whetstone and Galion until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and belonged to United Methodist Women. Her other memberships were with the auxiliary of T. P. Johnson Post 329, American Legion; Morrow County Business and Professional Women; Morrow County Republican Women, and No. 4-A Farm Bureau Council. Also surviving are a son, Roland "Bus" Smith of Mount Gilead; a daughter, Mrs. Dwight (Eleanor) Altman of Lexington; 3 brothers, Irvin Garverick of Mount Vernon, Dr. Calvin Garverick of Long Beach, Calif., and Meryl Garverick of Crestline; 5 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Schwenk. Burial will be in Shauck Cemetery."

[57727] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 9 January 2023: "Levant - Walter E. Littlefield, 81, of Levant, Maine, passed away in his home on the morning of January 7, 2023. He was born on March 24, 1941, in Bangor, Maine to parents Harold and Irene (Overlock) Littlefield. Walt graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1959, and from there enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years of active duty service, before continuing on to proudly serve his country for 37 years in the 101st Refueling Wing of the Maine Air National Guard. Walt retired from the Maine Air National Guard with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. In his retirement, Walt was a founder of the Maine Air Guards Retirees Association and its first President. He also was a founder of the Levant Heritage Library. Walter married Elaine (Seavey) Littlefield in 1964 and together they moved to Holden, Maine, where they raised two daughters, Kris Ann and Diana, and remained there for 21 years before settling in Levant. Walt was an avid lover of the New England Patriots and spent much of his leisure time playing golf with his friends Rick, Dennis and Ken, supporting and attending his grandchildren's sporting events, reading, doing puzzles, and crosswords and enjoyed spending time in the Maine outdoors hunting and ice fishing. Walt is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine of Levant; sister, Louise and husband Harry Leavitt of Palmyra; daughters, Kris Ann and husband, Rick Jordan of Orrington, and Diana Durgin and partner, Kevin Adam, of Exeter; grandchildren, Katherine and husband, Paul Verville, of Ellsworth, Laura Jordan and fiance, Michael Maloney, of Salem, Massachusetts, and Nicholas Jordan of Garland; great-grandsons, Gwilym and Nash Verville; brothers-in-law, Dennis Seavey of Newport, and Michael Seavey of Plymouth; special neighbors, Terry and Lisa Cronkhite; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Walter was a gentle, kind and generous man who will be deeply missed by all that knew him."
