John was Lord Botetourte of Weobley Castle. He m. (1) Elizabeth la Zouche de Mortimer (d. 13470 and (2) Joyce la Zouche de Mortimer with whom he had Joyce de Botetourte (1367-1420). http://www.thepeerage.com/p5943.htm reports "He succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Botetourt [E. ,1305] on 25 November 1324. On 16 July 1338 he had livery of his mother's lands. He fought in the French wars, where he distinguished himself. In 1341 he had livery of his father's lands. On his death, his barony is held to have become dormant until succeeded to by his granddaughter, Joyce."

Lord John & his first wife had two children:
i) Elizabeth de Botetourt . Betrothed to Sir Baldwin Frevile of Tamworth, Staffordshire (-1388).
ii) Joyce de Botetourt (-1410). - m firstly Sir Baldwin Frevile of Tamworth, Staffordshire (-1388). - m secondly Sir Adam Pershall of Weston-under-Lizard, Staffordshire.
Lord John & his second wife had five children:
iii) John de Botetourt (-1369). - m Maud de Grey, daughter of John de Grey 2nd Lord Grey of Rotherfield & his wife Maud de Burghersh. John & his wife had two children:
(a) John de Botetourt (-young).
(b) Joyce de Botetourt (-1 Jan 1406/7, bur Hales Abbey, Shropshire). - m (1386 before 22 May) as his second wife, Huch Burnell Lord Burnell, son of Nicholas Burnell formerly Haudlo & his wife Maud Burnell ([1346]-27 Nov 1420, bur Hales Abbey, Shropshire). No children.
