[1430] Henry began his military career with service in the siege of Berwick at age 14; in 1386 was raiding French territory from Calais; in 1399 joined Henry of Lancaster and was given Bamburgh Castle, Roxburgh and Berwick and the wardenship of the East March with a large stipend which was to quadruple in war-time. In the first year of Henry's reign, Henry Percy was appointed Justiciar of North Wales and Constable of the Castles of Chester, Flint, Conway, Denbigh and Carnarvon, and was granted the Island of Anglesey with the Castle of Beaumaris; but he had a falling out with the King and was killed in the eventual battle.
