[32736] "The Kansas City Times [Kansas City, Missouri], 9 February 1916," p. 3: "Mrs Elizabeth Broadhurst, widow of the late Rev. Alfred Spencer Broadhurst, died last night at the home of her son, C. F. Broadhurst, 3715 Prospect Avenue. Mrs Broadhurst was born February 16, 1832. She married March 14, 1850 and celebrated her sixty-third wedding anniversary in 1914. during the August of which year her husband died. Doctor Broadhurst acted as a circuit preacher in Clay County where he lived during the greater part of his life with his wife, near Barry, Mo. Mrs Broadhurst is survived by seven sons and one daughter: W. E. Broadhurst of Crystal City, Tex.; Mrs Ella E. Couch, De Soto, Kas.; J. M., Robert R., Thomas A., Columbus F., Green D. and Lewellyn C. Broadhurst all of Kansas City; eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren The funeral will be at the home of C. F. Broadhurst at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Rodrick once headed his own band and played at the old Keith, Colonial and Loew's theaters and clubs around Akron. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a life member of Akron Federation of Musicians Local 24. He leaves his wife, Ellen I.; daughter, Mrs. Edythe Dolores Falcone, Akron; son, Robert, Cleveland Heights, 12 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren."
