[29428] Gleason attended high school in Lewiston, ME, supporting himself working part-time for a local physician. He then attended Boston University and passed the Massachusetts Bar in 1906. Opening his own law office, he also began instructing law students in his home. This led to his establishing the Suffolk School of Law, now Suffolk University in Boston - founded to offer instruction leading to a law degree to men who had full-time day jobs. Gleason wrote the definitive genealogy "Ancestors and descendants of Joshua Williams, a Mayflower descendant and pioneer" (Boston: Wright & Potter printing company, 1927). For a summary of Gleason's work, see www.suffolk.edu/files/Archives/ms108_findingaid.pdf and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleason_Archer,_Sr. Cf. "Burke's American Families with British Ancestry: The Lineages of 1,600 Families of British Origin Now Resident in the United States of America," John Bernard Burke (Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing, 2010), pp. 2540-2541. Gleason and Elizabeth also had Norman Bradley Archer, b. 22 Sept. 1912; d. 22 Dec. 1912.
