Find A Grave memorial 12274978 offers: "Evermott Pogue Bain (aka E. P. Bain) was born in Knox County, Kentucky on Nov 14, 1853. He married Mary Ellen Pope in Knox County, Kentucky on Dec 28, 1874. He was 20 years old and Mary Ellen was 18 when they married. They had their first child,Mattie, just one year later. They lived in Kentucky until 1885. Then, Evermott and Mary Ellen and their first four children (five): Mattie, Dessie Lee, John Jessie, Lloyd (and maybe Crissie) went by covered wagon from Knox Co. Kentucky first to Mankato, Jewell, Kansas (1885 census), and then in 1887 to Selden, Kansas where they homesteaded on land about 1 mi. North and 1/2 mi. West of Selden. They lived in the covered wagon until a dugout covered with willows and sod plastered with native lime was constructed. Evermott died in Selden, Kansas, on Mar 18, 1894. He was 40 years old; leaving a pregnant Mary Ellen and seven children. Evermott is buried in the Selden Cemetery with Mary Ellen who died in 1902 and with the child that she was pregnant with when he died: Edith Parker Bain. Edith died the same year that she was born, 1894." He is son of
