He was Sheriff of Suffolk Co., MA 31 October to 14 December 1780 and in this role proclaimed the Declaration of Independence in 1776 at the Old State House. William paid L13, 6s, 8d toward the land bank debt of Samuel Adams, Esq. Find A Grave memorial 80565557 lists his children and reports "William was the youngest son of Daniel Greenleaf and Elizabeth Gooking. He married Mary Brown in Boston, Massachusetts on June 3, 1747, and they had fifteen children."
